The 1st Kinross Company has seen 86 years of service with young people within the Kinross-shire community.

The original company formed in 1892 stopped before the onset of the first World War when large numbers of young men went off to fight on Flanders Fields.

The company was re-formed by school teacher Roddy Beaton in 1940 after some Glasgow boys were evacuated to Kinross during the second World War. These Glasgow BB boys formed the nucleus of the re-formed company which has gone from strength to strength over the years.

In the 1950's, Perth Battalion wished to fill vacant numbers of companies by existing companies and 1st Kinross agreed to become 2nd Perth (KINROSS). In 1999 officers of the company felt it was appropriate that the company resume its existing name and with church, battalion and headquarters approval this is now the company name.
